ABOUT SHANE
Shane is from a small town in rural Illinois and enlisted into the Army following high school in 2006. After completing basic training, airborne school, and the Ranger Indoctrination Program (RIP), he joined Special Operations as a member of 3rd Ranger Battalion. Following his four years of service and deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan (2), Shane returned home to attend the University of Illinois where he earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, followed by a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Miami in Florida.
Today Shane lives in Denver, Colorado with his wife and two pit bulls. He is passionate about the outdoors where he loves to hike and camp and considers these activities to be critical to both his physical and mental health. After summiting with the Conquering Kili class of 2022, Shane is honored to be the Team Captain in 2024 and is very thankful for the opportunity to again give back and make a positive impact for the people in East Africa.
Each new Conquering Kili class accepts the challenge to embark for the summit, a walk that represents the miles that many African women journey on a daily basis to fetch water for their families. While training for the climb, each team member works to raise funds and transform communities through the gift of clean water.
