    ABOUT MICAH

Micah Snead was born and raised in Walterboro, South Carolina, and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in February 2002 as a Combat Correspondent and assigned to Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort with the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing. After deploying twice in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Micah was honorably discharged in May 2006. While completing a Bachelor of Arts in History at the University of South Carolina, Micah found another passion for service, working with non-profits benefiting low- and no-income families. After moving to Denver, Colorado, to pursue a Masters of Public Administration, Micah joined the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless and served as a case manager, coordinator, and program manager providing housing and supportive services to homeless and at-risk youth and families. Micah also worked with the Colorado Division of Housing before relocating to the suburbs of Philadelphia where he now works as a Senior Program Manager for CSH, the Corporation for Supportive Housing, a national non-profit working to advance housing solutions and improve the lives of the most vulnerable people. In his free time, Micah entertains his wife, Meg, and two daughters, Maeve and Sloane, supports national and local non-profits by donating and volunteering, and tries to live his life in honor and memory of those who came before him and most of all those who never came home.

Each new Conquering Kili class accepts the challenge to embark for the summit, a walk that represents the miles that many African women journey on a daily basis to fetch water for their families. While training for the climb, each team member works to raise funds and transform communities through the gift of clean water.
