Ashley Sorensen began her military career at the United States Military Academy, West Point in 2006. She graduated and was commissioned as an Army Officer in 2010. She went on to specialize as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) technician and served for over eight years in roles across Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, and Fort Carson, Colorado. Her service included a deployment to Afghanistan as a Company Commander.
In 2013, as a First Lieutenant, Ashley broke the Guinness World Record for running a mile in the EOD bomb disposal suit. She still holds that record today.
Beyond her military achievements, Ashley is a lifelong athlete. She has competed, been recruited to, or participated at the national level or higher in six sports. These include rugby, where she earned All-American honors and was a National Team pool player for eight years while serving in uniform.
Following her military service, Ashley spent nearly seven years at JPMorgan including five as a Portfolio Manager within the fixed income space. In August 2025, she made the decision to follow her passion for health and community. She transitioned full time to Viking Farms, an organic and regenerative farm she co-founded with her father during the COVID pandemic in the Tri-Cities region of Tennessee. Motivated by her personal journey with autoimmune illness, Ashley is committed to sustainable farming and holistic well-being.
She recently began her Executive MBA at Cornell University, which marks the realization of a lifelong dream and empowers her to take on even greater leadership in the causes she’s passionate about.
Ashley is honored to join the Waterboys community in their mission to bring clean water to those in need. She believes everyone deserves access to clean water, nutritious food, and the opportunity to thrive.

Each new Conquering Kili class accepts the challenge to embark for the summit, a walk that represents the miles that many African women journey on a daily basis to fetch water for their families. While training for the climb, each team member works to raise funds and transform communities through the gift of clean water.
