Originally from the Carolinas, Warren developed a love for Africa as a teenager living in Nairobi, Kenya. His late mother, Connie, was an international educator with an infectious enthusiasm for people and the power of communities to make the world a better place. Warren grew up witnessing first-hand the enhanced quality of life that comes through initiatives such as Waterboys.
At a young age he gained an appreciation for and interest in the work of the civic sector and charitable organizations to contribute to the greater good. At Davidson College, he studied political science and ethnic relations, served as Student Government Associate President, and conducted independent research in South Africa on post-Apartheid secondary education. Later, as a Rotary International Ambassadorial Fellow in Cape Town, he pursued graduate studies with a focus on transitional justice and peacebuilding. He has spent much of his career as an educational and advancement leader promoting excellence and opportunity and has been fortunate to serve with foremost local and national social impact organizations.
Today, he is privileged to work for the University of Virginia in a senior advancement role responsible for leading the philanthropic and alumni engagement program for UVA Engineering, raising resources and engaging partners for innovative solutions to global challenges. He is inspired daily by the dedication of students and faculty to improve the quality of life around the world, including clean water initiatives in Africa.
He is currently a board member of the Boys and Girls Club of Central Virginia and has served in board leadership roles with the Center for Non-Profit Excellence, Albemarle Housing Improvement Program, Virginia Discovery Museum, and Olivet Presbyterian Church. Warren has conducted trainings and consultancies in the U.S., Europe and Africa and was a member of the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Africa Advisory Initiative to build advancement capacity in sub-Saharan African higher education institutions.
It’s been a lifelong dream of his to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. As a supporter and friend of the Chris Long Foundation for many years he’s humbled by the opportunity to join this amazing team dedicated to improving life in Tanzania and around the world and grateful to the many supporters for their partnership and encouragement.

Each new Conquering Kili class accepts the challenge to embark for the summit, a walk that represents the miles that many African women journey on a daily basis to fetch water for their families. While training for the climb, each team member works to raise funds and transform communities through the gift of clean water.
