Trip O’Connell was born in Virginia and raised on the DC/Maryland border in Chevy Chase, the son of Terry O’Connell, a highly decorated Vietnam veteran, and Linda Foley, who kept the family strong through Terry’s passing in 2019. A multi-sport athlete, Trip carried his competitive spirit and love of debate to the University of Delaware, where he played football and discovered a passion for political engagement and community building. His early work included roles with the 2004 Democratic National Convention and the Kerry/Edwards campaign, followed by grassroots campaign organizing on a Senate campaign in Nevada. After several years in the hospitality industry, Trip pursued a lifelong calling to serve, spending six years as a Tactical Air Control Party (TACP)/Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) with the U.S. Air Force, earning multiple honors including Honor Graduate awards from several schools and the Commandant’s Award at The Airman Leadership School. Following his service, he returned to Washington, D.C., opening multiple F45 Training studios and later helping F45Headquarters build its Military Division, which continues to support veterans transitioning into civilian careers. Today, Trip is channeling his passion for community building, leadership, and connection into More Perfect Union, a national nonprofit focused on building stronger American communities via service, civic, and social gatherings.

Each new Conquering Kili class accepts the challenge to embark for the summit, a walk that represents the miles that many African women journey on a daily basis to fetch water for their families. While training for the climb, each team member works to raise funds and transform communities through the gift of clean water.
