About the Group
An Unlikely Story and the Kinney family are pleased to host Plainville Splash on Saturday, June 2 in Telford Park in Plainville, Massachusetts.
Donations are optional and, from 3-5:30 p.m., all ages can enjoy:
· Games & Skills Competitions
· Prizes & Giveaways
· Water Education
Plainville Splash is a chance for the Plainville/Boston area (just beyond the Foxboro stomping grounds of former New England Patriot, Chris Long!) to come together for a great causeclean water! The highlight will be a Water Walk (to be held within the park), made in honor of the Tanzanian community which will receive a new clean water project as a result of the amazing day.
The NFLs Chris Long (founder of the Waterboys Initiative) and Jeff Kinney (author of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series) look forward to meeting you at Plainville Splash. In addition, Jeff and An Unlikely Story the bookstore owned by the Kinney family will host special book offerings about the water crisis; readings; water-themed yoga and other opportunities for learning about the water crisis (and raising funds, if you wish to do so). Check out the details at www.AnUnlikelyStory.com/events/plainville-splash
In addition to participating in a variety of FREE activities, Water Walk participants who donate or raise $20 will be able to receive a walk shirt (while supplies last!). Want it autographed by Jeff or Chris? Just raise or donate $25 or more!
Why Water? Imagine the challenge of a daily walk to find water for your family and finding only water that is dirty and filled with disease. In the developing world:
· 1 in 10 people lack access to safe water
· Each day, 2000 children under the age of five die from waterborne illness
· Women and girls in sub-Saharan Africa collect 90% of the water and wood, walking
distances of 4 miles or more and carrying water jugs which can weigh 40 pounds
Get involved by participating in one of the special events leading up to Plainville Splash, by joining us on June 2 and/or MAKING A SECURE DONATION HERE!
Remember; those contributing at least $20 (and participating in the June 2 Water Walk) will be eligible to receive a commemorative t-shirt for the walk! Please give generously!
