    ABOUT DAVID

Dave Williams is dean of the College of Engineering at The Ohio State University. He is responsible for the education of 10,000 engineering students and a $150M research program, while leading the administration of 1000 professors, research scientists and staff.

From 2007 to 2011 he was President of the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Before UAHuntsville, he was at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA for 31 years, serving as VP of Research from 2000-2006.

Williams holds several degrees from the University of Cambridge, despite spending most of his time playing rugby. He has written/edited a dozen books and a few hundred papers on the electron microscopy of aerospace metals and materials. He much prefers to read history, play poor golf, prune roses, and attempt ragtime piano – the latter with little success.

Willams has seen first hand how the Chris Long Foundation and The Global Water Institute at The Ohio State University are working together to bring potable water to tens of thousands of Tanzanians. His commitment to climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro stems from an interest in raising awareness of how engineers, athletes and wounded warriors, can work together to help many more communities across Tanzania.

He stewarded the launch of the Humanitarian Engineering Center, which includes faculty and students applying their skills in underserved communities locally and abroad.

Thanks, in advance, for your support of our team so we can continue to provide solutions to this truly difficult challenge.

Each new Conquering Kili class accepts the challenge to embark for the summit, a walk that represents the miles that many African women journey on a daily basis to fetch water for their families. While training for the climb, each team member works to raise funds and transform communities through the gift of clean water.
