Lauren is running the 2024 TCS NYC Marathon!
Dear Friends & Family,
After recently discovering my newfound hobby for running and completing the 2024 Brooklyn Half Marathon with my group of friends, I knew I couldn’t stop there. I yearned to make bigger strides! I leaned into the possibility of accomplishing what I formerly thought was impossible — a marathon.
Now, I am no athlete, so I wanted to join forces with something larger than me. The Waterboys Young Professionals Committee, an initiative of the Chris Long Foundation, was exactly the motivating and empowering cause I knew would help fuel my passion to keep running.
This November, I am proud to be running the 2024 TCS NYC Marathon with the Waterboys Young Professionals Committee!
The Waterboys Young Professionals Committee (YPC) strives to raise awareness and money to provide clean water to communities in need throughout East Africa. With your help, I hope to raise $5,000 to raise awareness and provide clean, accessible drinking water to communities in need throughout East Africa.
In 2017, after graduating from the University of Miami, I was fortunate to travel to Africa with Global Brigades in a passionate effort to help empower communities to combat inequalities and provide medical services. It was here that I grew a specific love for pediatrics, helping treat malaria in local pediatric populations. While there, I witnessed firsthand the difficulties of accessing clean water.
While this may seem like a monumental task, and it is, every little bit counts!
- Just $25 provides clean drinking water access to 2 people
- $50 provides clean drinking water access to 1 household
- $75 saves 35,000 hours of dirty water retrieval
